Fence Post Replacement in Bicester

Looking for fence post repair in Bicester? Oxford Fencing covers Bicester (OX26) and the surrounding area, including Rousham Gap, Marsh Gibbon, Gawcott, Granborough and Little Horwood, with the same properly-prepared, tidy work we bring to every job.

Most fences that lean, rock or blow over have failed at the posts, not the panels. Timber posts rot at ground level, concrete spurs crack, and posts that were never set deep enough work loose in the wind. Left alone, one bad post soon pulls the panels either side of it down with it.

We dig out the failed post and its old footing, set a new concrete or timber post to the right depth and concrete it in, then refit the panels or boards so the line runs straight again. Where a post is sound but has shifted, we can often straighten and re-set it. If the posts are failing all along the run, we will tell you honestly whether repairs or a new fence make more sense.

Built on Solid Posts

Every post is dug to the right depth and concreted in, with gravel boards to keep the timber off the soil. It is the part you never see, and the part that decides how long the fence lasts.

What we do

What’s Included

Everything that goes into a fence post repair job with Oxford Fencing.

  • Replacing snapped, rotten or leaning fence posts
  • Digging out old footings and concreting new posts in
  • Switching rotten timber posts to concrete
  • Re-setting and straightening posts that have shifted
  • Refitting the panels, boards and gravel boards
  • Storm-damaged posts made safe quickly

How Much Does Fence Post Repair Cost in Bicester?

The cost of fence post repair depends on how many posts have gone, what they are made of and how easy they are to reach. Swapping a single snapped post is a small job; a run of rotten timber posts along a boundary takes longer, and is often the moment to switch to concrete. We check every post on the run, explain what we find and give you a free written price before any work starts.

The main things that move the price are:

  • How many posts need replacing or re-setting
  • Concrete or timber replacement posts
  • Whether old concrete footings need breaking out
  • Access to the boundary and the panels either side

Questions

Fence Post Repair FAQs

Can you replace one fence post without replacing the panels?

Usually, yes. We take out the panels either side, replace the post and refit the same panels, provided they are still in good condition.

Should I switch to concrete posts?

If your timber posts are rotting at the base, concrete posts are worth considering. They will not rot, and we can fit them in place of timber as each one fails or across the whole run.

Why do fence posts lean?

Usually because the post has rotted at ground level, the footing was too shallow, or wind load on the panels has worked it loose over time.

Can a leaning fence post be straightened?

Sometimes. If the post itself is sound we can often straighten and re-set it. If it is rotten or cracked, a new post is the lasting fix.

Do you take the old posts away?

Yes. Old posts, broken footings and waste are cleared away as part of the job.
